THIS CITY LOOKS BEAUTIFUL FROM THE OUTSIDE...
...enveloped in a parade of sustainable buildings, it’s hard not to be compelled. The water flows like electricity, nature spreads its roots like hidden cables, and the economy, like always, points up.
In spite of the perfections, it is a bad place -- Like compost, everything here is green, even our decaying hearts. Emerald city is full of old, dying people paranoid of being watched.
We were the ones born of tired parents, victims of the ‘2020 green turn’ which sacrificed everything for the greater good of the climate crisis. While the city battled epidemics, economic crashes, societal injustice, and the impending burning atmosphere, tech companies offered their resources in exchange for power. In a state of chaos, on the brink of economic disaster and revolution, Governor Quagmire sold the city to Better Living Industries, a tech company turned building developer run by Van der Rohe.
What was once a mecca for tech innovation has now become a city full of poisonous growth, fake science, constant surveillance, and wildcat enterprises, with their aim for quick profit. This city, fetishizing sustainabile aesthetic, drags us all through the mud while claiming to enrich our livelihood along the way.
When the city was sold, little did we know, at the time, those who controlled the technology controlled the fate of our future. Unfortunately for the architects, that meant we were doomed for quite some time.
You can rot here without feeling a thing.

it must have been another grid malfunction...
...or somebody must have hacked the city system again...but something about this glitch felt familiar...
... a strange message began typing on my screen...
“what’s going on?”
“what’s going on?”
i quickly got inside,..
and ascended...
above the tallest trees...
into a starry night of twinkling drones...
